Rio Metro provides accessible transportation services for people residing in Rio Rancho. Rio Rancho Dial-a-Ride is available to Rio Rancho residents who are 55 years of age and older* as well as disabled adults 18 years of age or older.

Rio Rancho Dial-a-Ride

Rio Rancho Dial-a-Ride is a weekday door-to-door transportation service for Rio Rancho residents 55 years of age and older*, and for disabled adults 18 years of age and older. This service is for Rio Rancho residents only and you must be registered to use the service.

Service Area

  • Rio Rancho city limits.
  • Albuquerque (for medical appointments only): One morning trip to Albuquerque and one afternoon trip to Rio Rancho daily. Call for details.
  • Cottonwood Mall Area (Includes the Northwest Transit Center): The Cottonwood Mall area/Northwest Transit Center service is provided on Mondays and Tuesdays ONLY. Pickups for transportation to the mall area begin at 9:15 a.m. A second pickup for transportation to the mall area will take place between 11-11:30 a.m. Riders can return home at either 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. Riders are limited to 6 bags per person, and are responsible for loading and unloading their own bags.


In order to receive service all Dial-a-Ride passengers must complete an application form and be a Rio Rancho resident, with a physical address in Rio Rancho. Staff will ask for proof of residence, i.e. driver’s license, checks, any utility bills.

Rio Rancho Dial-a-Ride uses fare cards and does not accept cash.

*Notice: Starting September 4, 2018, Rio Metro will begin selling monthly and 10-trip passes on the buses for the Rio Rancho Dial-a-Ride. Also, the age requirement to qualify for the service will become 62 years and older. pdfView Notice (Downloadable PDF)

    • Reservations are accepted between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Bus schedules fill up quickly, so it is best to call several days in advance to schedule your ride. Reservations are accepted up to two weeks in advance.

Veterans Pass:  VA medicals cards, VHIC reports, and Freedom Passes are eligible for free fares on the New Mexico Rail Runner Express and Rio Metro bus routes, but are not valid for Dial-a-Ride services in Valencia County or Rio Rancho.
