Responding to requests from students and staff at the Santa Fe Community College, the City of Santa Fe's Transit Division has expanded its Route 22 bus service between the Santa Fe Co. / NM 599 Rail Runner Station and the College.
The Transit Division heard of students commuting via Rail Runner having to limit the courses they could take due to transportation limitations. The changes will provide transportation late in the morning and later in the evenings from and to Santa Fe Co. / NM 599 Rail Runner Station respectively, accommodating students and staff commuting by train who start later in the day or take evening classes. Transit service between the Santa Fe Place Mall and the Santa Fe Community College is provided Monday through Friday via the Santa Fe Trails Route 21 and Route 22.
Starting on Tuesday January 22, an outbound Route 22 departing at 10:40 a.m. from Santa Fe Place Mall was added to meet the northbound #510 Rail Runner train that arrives at the Santa Fe Co. / NM 599 Station at 10:51 a.m. and then continue on the regular route, arriving at the Community College at 11:08 a.m. In addition, two new evening inbound Route 22 services were added from the Community College. The first departs the College at 6:27 p.m. and drops off passengers at the Santa Fe Co. / NM 599 Station to meet the southbound #519 train that departs at 7:10 p.m. The second departs the College at 9:00 p.m. and drops off passengers at the Santa Fe Co. / NM 599 Station to meet the southbound #521 train that departs at 9:24 p.m.
These additions in service are being introduced on a trial basis for the duration of the Community College semester that ends on May 20, 2019. During this time, the Transit Division will monitor ridership and obtain feedback on these services to determine if additional changes to services are necessary and if the changes warrant becoming part of permanent year round services.
