Safe and Healthy Travels Rio Metro Transit

New Mexico Rail Runner Express

The New Mexico Rail Runner Express returned to its full pre-COVID schedule including weekend service on May 24, 2021.  Learn More

Boarding: Stand clear of the doors and allow passengers to disembark before boarding the train.

Food and Beverage: Passengers may bring and consume food and beverages (excluding alcohol) on the train. Rio Metro is following the federal mandate to wear face coverings at all times on board the train. Remove your face covering only while eating or drinking. 

Rio Metro Bus Service  

Some Rio Metro bus services continue to be adjusted or suspended. All bus services in Valencia and Sandoval Counties will continue to be fare-free until further notice. Learn More

Safe and Healthy Travel Protocols at Rio Metro

In an effort to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases such as the coronavirus, it is strongly recommended to follow these precautions to Rio Metro Safe and Healthy Travels Posterensure public safety:


Guidelines are in place and posted to help passengers maintain at least six (6) feet of social distance on board our buses and trains, and at station platforms.


The proper wearing of face masks is required, per federal law. Face masks must always be worn on buses and at transit facilities and bus stops/stations. Mask can either be reusable or disposable.


Remember to wash your hands frequently. At least one restroom for hand washing is available on all trains. Hand sanitizing stations are available at all vehicle entrances/exits.  


Vehicle cleaning and sanitizing protocols have been elevated to meet and/or exceed public health guidelines.  


Please wear your mask when using your cell phone on board our buses and trains, and at station platforms.


Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care.

  • Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
