Bike Share to Double in Size

Rio Metro Regional Transit District’s bike share program, “Pace ABQ,” celebrated its first birthday in April of 2019, and is proving to be a great success during its first year of operation. For that reason, Rio Metro is pleased to announce the program will double in size from the initial 43 stations and 250 bicycles to 100 stations and 500 total bicycles throughout 2019.

“Since our launch just over a year ago, we’ve seen almost 17,000 trips made by more than 6,600 riders,” said Terry Doyle, Director of Rio Metro Regional Transit District, the agency that manages the Pace bike share program. “Throughout the rest of 2019, we’ll be rolling out additional stations and bicycles in phases. We’re excited to provide additional access to the program.”

“From the very first days of Pace Bike Share in Albuquerque, riders were traveling to destinations all over the Northeast Heights, said Albuquerque City Councilor Diane Gibson, whose district includes Uptown and parts of the near northeast heights. “It is exciting to know that the expansion will bring bike sharing opportunities to the people of District 7.”

Where It's Expanding

The additional Pace Bike Share stations will be installed in early June with the bikes soon to follow. The bikes will be available for use as soon as they appear at the racks. Some places that people will soon see the additional Pace bike share stations include:

  • The International District
  • Summit Park
  • Uptown
